ECO Farm Rosin Press Review 2021
Understanding how rosin presses work
When extracting rosin, whether it be from fresh flowers or from dry sift, there are two main factors - heat and pressure. They are inversely affected by one another. The more heat you use, the less pressure you need. Conversely, the more pressure you use, the less heat you need.
What is the best temp to press rosin?
You may think that more heat will result in larger yields. This is not true! Using too much heat will burn off terpenes and other compounds that make rosin so sought after. You should stick to lower heat.
For flowers: 220°F - 240°F for about 30 - 45 seconds
For dry sift: 180°F - 210°F for 45 - 90 seconds
As soon as you finish your press, remove rosin from the plates as fast as possible. This will minimize any degradation of active compounds and terpenes. Pure Pressure makes some really cool Gold Plates which you can place your rosin on right after pressing to speed up cooling. As we mentioned earlier, there is a relationship between temperature and pressure. If you want to cold press (sub 200), you’ll need more pressure, and longer pressing duration.
Experiment and see if this produces better rosin for you, because in many cases, it may not. Excess pressure can result in issues of its own too, which we will detail below. Flowers needs more pressure, somewhere between 600-1000 PSI. Dry sift or will require less pressure because it is more concentrated. You should shoot for between 300-800 PSI. Too much pressure can lead to a lower quality yield. You can actually end up squeezing plant matter into the rosin, resulting in impurities, poor taste, and overall lower quality.
ECO Farm HP02 8-Ton Hydraulic Heat Rosin Press Machine
ECO Farm HP02 8-Ton Hydraulic Heat Rosin Press Machine stands out because it has extreme pressure and awesome, customer service. You’ll find digital control panels. You can use these to control the heat on both the top and bottom plates. The top of this machine features a super robust pneumatic cylinder, which is very durable.
The plates can be heated up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. (Though most connoisseurs recommend keeping the temp around 250 degrees.) The hydraulic cylinder of ECO Farm HP02 8-Ton Hydraulic Heat Rosin Press Machine allows you to exert tons of pressure from the top down onto your two heated plates. This unit is plenty of heat to press flavorful, solventless rosin. It’s also very sturdy and durable.
Its plates also allow you to process quite a bit more material than some other models on this list. Some of the reviewers have even tried several rosin presses (and returned them), before choosing ECO Farm HP02 8-Ton Hydraulic Heat Rosin Press Machine as the supreme press for cannabis.
This features a temperature gauge, which reviewers say is very accurate. The unit heats up to above 200 degrees very quickly, and you can load about 7 grams of flower and be pressing your own rosin within about 30 minutes of unboxing your press. The learning curve is that fast!
Several reviewers commented on how this press beats the rosin press Nugsmasher makes (which is nearly double the price). For the best bang for your buck, this seems to be the right press for all your rosin needs.
